Huh. Admittedly intrigued. Seems you'd have some more issues with rubbing on rocks or finding a good line than a winch higher up and center mounted on bumper, but this is much cheaper. Any idea how many pounds of force you could get from one using a 3.6L JK?
Looks to me like the thing is made for pretty light duty needs. More like traction control than winching. I looked up their specs and the rope is the weak spot by design, 4.4K lbs or 7K lbs. I can't see this being a replacement for a frame mounted winch.
Listen, if I had nothing else, I'd love to have this, but I prefer a Zeon. If I was offroading across africa, seems like its a pretty good backup to have in case the winch fails.
JAGS, that is literally what my Dad has done. I showed him a video of that, and he said, "Your Uncle George and I have done that." Daddy was a kid, & Uncle George was either too broke, or too much of a tightwad to have a better way!
