Hurricane Irma in Georgia

As I'm typing this I'm sitting in a house with no power and the winds are STILL howling. But we got hit pretty hard by Irma. Although it's only a tropical storm at this point, that didn't stop her from coming in and making herself known. Me and a few of my good friends decided to go out and do what we could to help. We cleared 5 trees total, the others were on power lines so we didn't touch them.

We also helped the local police department recover a few closed roads as well. Gotta help where ya can.

It was only 56 degrees out there, as there was a MASSIVE cold front associated with Irma. That paired with the heavy rain, and 50 mile an hour sustained winds meant I got soaked to the bone and froze almost to death.

Good work, sir! [emoji1360] I tried contacting my local PD and they weren't coordinating any clean up. I should've just driven around to see how I could help.

Very well done sir... You guys did an awesome job. Stay safe out there. My wife is an RN and while our Jeep isn't lifted hugely... my Ram is sitting on a 9 inch lift with 40s and we thought about coming down to help but with a four year old not sure that's the place to be for her. And we live all the way in Kansas. I wish we could do more to help but our Thoughts and prayers are with you though.

I hope that was received the correct way... I wasn't trying not to offer help. It's just not in our capability to pick up in come down there. I wish it was but will give support in any other way we can.

Governments are made up of everyday people. Good to see the community coming together rather than waiting on someone else to do the work. The 2013 flood here was like that. People didn't care about waiting on money, or 'official government.' There wasn't enough resources anyways. People just came together with what resources they had and made repairs the best they could.

By the time the trees were reported down, we were on it within about 5 minutes or so. There were several times when we got there several minutes before the police did and they just kinda sat there and watched as a whole group of soaking wet Jeep owners made quick work with chainsaws :cheesy:

It's always a good feeling to help the community, and especially in North Georgia where we aren't really equipped or ready for stuff like ice, mass power outages, tornadoes, tropical storms, and flood, It'll take the community who knows a thing or two about those situations to get everything rolling again :thumb:

Good stuff! When we had the tornado touch down here in Omaha a few months back, I was out all weekend helping clear trees, haul brush away, etc. Just what communities need to do in desperate times. Although the situations are horrible, it makes me feel good seeing everyone come together as one; no race issues, no economic status issues, etc. Just people helping people.

I've seen said RAM make a rock garden it's b!tch! Thing is a BEAST on the rocks.

Awesome. It's great that you and your group had the wherewithal to just go an help. Where I live the majority sits back with the "It's not my job" approach. Then bitches about why it's taking so long. Then will try to sue the government for not fixing the problem fast enough or right. It's why I badly want to leave this state. End rant.

Tonka truck! That's awesome. Bet it gets great mpg ;)
That's exactly what I thought when I put the 40s on it before I trimmed anything! LoL Thanks! Mpg-Yeah we won't talk about that.... It honestly doesn't do too bad. Considering the nature of the beast of course. If I run 65 mph, I can't get around 10-12... Maybe a little more depending on how windy it is.

Awesome thank you so much for helping! It's amazing how people truly come together in the middle of crisis to help others. Stay safe, praying for everyone during this time.
