Hinge Rust Spots

I noticed an area around the tailgate hinges where some surface rust was developing. Those of us that don't live in perfect climates have to deal with salt on the road.

Curious if anyone else on the forum has had to do this. Not exactly a write up... more just a random this is what I did today with my spare time today.

Nice job.....I got some rust starting to develop under paint on my door hinges. I might do this as well.

Good job. That looks good as new.

Did it just to cover where the factory doesn't paint. Obviously it wasn't the best paint job. But it will be covered by a hinge anyhow.

I'm disappointed that The factory can't paint THEN assemble. My '15 hadn't started to rust, but when I replaced my stock tailgate hinges last week I took the time to paint under them also. Mine is Baja Yellow. Since there would be nothing showing I just used a rattle can of some not-even-close-to-matching tractor yellow on the bare surfaces. Gives me peace of mind.
