Hey everyone!
I'm still relatively new to off roading (bought my Jeep in early 2011) and am trying to learn as much as possible. I love the culture already, much friendlier than the racing scene. I started out with my love of cars when I was 16 and bought an 89 Camaro and a 2003 HD Sportster. Since then I've mostly stuck with go fast cars (07 vw GTI, 91 Nissan skyline, 70 vette) but back in 2011 I moved up to the mountains of CO and wanted to have something fun to drive year round that could also handle the snow and dirt roads up there so I bought my first Jeep.
I'm not gonna lie, I was leery at first, even after driving it the first time (came to the dealership with my 07 GTI, then test drove a jeep) It looked like it had potential and I read a few online forums and watched some videos of what people did with their Jeeps and I decided to take the plunge (after considering a toyota 4 runner as well). I'm in love with TJ! It's so easy to work on, and there are tons of walk throughs (I primarily stick with 4x4xplor.com for walk throughs). Anyways I took a job in Iraq in November of 2011 so I've been out here ever since! I go home occasionally but never long enough to go to a bunch of meets and stuff to really get involved with the local 4 wheeling. Since November '11 I've only been home in CO for a grand total of 5 weeks. I might get back there in Feb, but until then...my jeep is lonely and sad.
Anyways let's get to the fun stuff, here is a list of the mods I remember doing to it before I left:
3" BDS Suspension lift
1" Budget Body Lift
JKS Disco's in the front
15x8 steel wheels
32" tires
Cobra 75WXST CB radio
LOD Front bumper/rock sliders/rear tire carrier with jerry can mounts
SmittyBilt XRC 8 winch
IPF H4 conversion lens and x51 fat boy super low beam lights
Mirror relocation brackets so I can drive with the doors off legally
I was trying to save up for a G2 D44 w/ ARB locker/disc brakes and 4.56 gears to replace the 35c, get a CV driveshaft/SYE and regear/lock the front D30 with an ARB locker, but decided to save my money and once I get done with med school I'd buy myself a new 4 door Jeep and then mod the crap out of that one.
Anyways that's me Glad to be here, and love the wayalife videos on youtube!
See ya guys,
