GO Pro Questions

We got my son a Go Pro Hero 3 Silver Edition for Christmas and we have a mount on the dash that when we take video its really bouncy, but the other question i have is How do you guys keep the batteries going, ours lasted about 1.5 hours on 720 resolution.

has anyone tried the non go pro branded batteries and chargers from amazon?

i have the hero 3 silver as well. i can get it to last for almost 3 hours or so on 940 (or whatever that resolution is). besides that prob one of the best buys i had for my hero 3 so far was the backpack battery. it allows me to wheel all day with it. also if you have a smart phone download the go pro app. it will allow you to make sure the lens is pointed and aimed in the right direction as well as make sure you are on a good resolution.

also for abtterie life make sure the wifi isnt on if you are not connected to a smart phone to control it. this will kill your battery as well.

There is no image stabilization built into the gropro so wherever you mount it the gopro is going to react with it. Most of the guys I go out with mount it to the front of their windshield or on the tailgate in the back and the video is basically what'd you see driving.

I think it's iMovie that has some image stabilization functions built into it but it's only going to do so much if the video is really shaky.

As far as battery life, turn off wifi completely and it'll help it last longer. I think I can get a full 2 hours of continuous recording at 1080p off a full battery with wifi disabled.

I have a non branded gorpo charger from amazon and it works fine, even includes a cigarette adapter so i can charge a battery while out on the trails.

I have two gorpros with sticky mounts in a few places and found shaking is not that bad, enough that when YouTube asks me If I want image stabilization I say now as not I mess with the image.

I've seen a few reviews on YouTube to see the difference in battery times between original batteries and lower cost alternatives are so small that it's not a bad idea to have a few. With that said, the extended battery rocks...

Battery Bacpac! Works great. As far as stabilization, there are products out there like STABILgo and I think Ram Mounts makes one now, but they are not cheap. I would just experiment with where you are mounting the GoPro and see what works best for you.

i want to tank everyone for all the info it has been helpful, i know my son wants to take it on the kick of run this weekend so i just want to maximize the amount of time i can record with it.

Thanks
