Gladiator AEV wheel center too small for spare carrier

I have a gen 1 AEV Savegre wheel with a 35 on it that I can't get to fit in the factory Gladiator spot.
There's plenty of clearance. The issue is that the spare cable bracket won't fit through the wheel's hub hole.
Y'all have any hacks for this?

You can trim the "Dog Bone" down that goes through the bore.

The problem with this is, you'll weaken it because you're taking away the curled edge that provides the strength.

If it don't fit, it don't fit. I wouldn't suggest cutting up your mount to make it work. And I certainly wouldn't suggest altering those sweet wheels.

Personally I'd sell the wheels because they're long discontinued. If you damage one, replacing it will be expensive, if you can find one. And as much as I liked the Savegre wheels I had for several years, I didn't miss them when I moved on to a newer wheel with two valve stems and 3.5" backspacing.
