Front fender area question

Is the rubber fender dust blocker thing needed? I heard it prevents water splashes which could crack the 4.0 just wondering because I want to take it off to reduce heat. Thanks

If it isn't having cooling issues I would just leave it on. If it is having cooling issues then I would say taking those off won't fix the issue.
