Fenders or winch first?

I ordered smittybilt xrc fenders and front liners from Amazon. Didn't show up Friday when they were scheduled , haven't even shipped yet. The more I read these forums, the more I think I don't really need them.
35 inch tires with a 2.5 inch lift and no disconnects probably won't need the extra clearance. Would be more for looks. I'm thinking of canceling fender and putting the money towards a Warn VR EVO 10-S instead.
I don't do anything more extreme than the occasional logging trail to a campsite. Maybe Algonquin Park. What do you think?

Yeah, the winch is the right move.

Especially if you are ever out alone or the first Jeep onto an obstacle

WInch. OEM fenders are fine. If you need more clearance, cut them for free. Lots of you youtube videos on how to do that.

Winch it up. I personally like how the JK's stock flares look, (albeit I'll be on a 3.5" lift with 35s) and as mentioned earlier you can cut them for free. Once I go to 37s I'll cut them following Eddie's write up he did years back on Moby. A winch is definitely more crucial I'd say. You just never know what'll happen and a Warn is a good piece of mind that your safe.

Ok, fenders it is.

Just canceled the xrc and ordered the winch. Guess I kinda knew, but needed the confirmation. Thank you.
Now get ready for a bunch of stupid winch install questions that have been answered repeatedly. ;)

Just need the winch mount and maybe the vacuum relocation mount now. Good move going for the winch instead.

The winch is the right move. I have not used mine on the trails yet (haven't gotten stuck bad enough) but have used it on my commute to/from work to move fallen trees and pull other motorists out of ditches.

Good call on the winch first. And good choice.

FWIW, I have a 2 door JK that I run 35s on with 1” lift and 1” bumpstops with no rubbing. Chopping the factory flares is a very budget friendly way to make some clearance.
