Family friendly trails near Tahoe?

Caught the Bug
Might be up in the Tahoe this weekend and looking for a few trails to take the family out to while we are up there. Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, if anyone wants to join, you would be more than welcome!

Unfortunately, a lot of the trails are closed for the winter. You might be able to work your way up the back side of the Rubicon and it's pretty easy up to Cadillac Hill so long as there isn't too much snow and I really doubt there is.

I was up in Tahoe last wed and they got snow up high. I did see a few jeeps heading out in the morning up the Cali side of the lake on Saturday.

Really? With what I saw on Hunter Lake I figured Rubicon would be under quite a bit even with the crappy winter we've been having. :idontknow:

LOL!! You're absolutely right. Just took Moby for a test drive up to Spooner Summit and was surprised to see so much snow up there. Sure could use more but I'd be willing to bet that the west side of the lake has even more.

I was afraid of the winter closures. Might meet up with a couple fellow wayalifers and check out the back part of the Rubicon.

That said, I need to keep it easy as I am in the process of selling my wheel/tire setup and need to keep the rims in good shape. Slabs here we come!

Thanks for the recommendation! :thumb:

The backside into Cadillac is mostly un-maintained dirt road. There are some more "aggressive" section as you get closer but not too bad. You could always just head to the lakes on that road. They are beautiful!

Thanks for the info!

BTW, Panda ever get you the hood or did he keep it for himself?! :D

This was taken January 24th at the overlook above Cadillac, snow was minimal. It was very icy leaving the staging area on the west shore and some heavy ice in some of the water holes. As warm as it is this week should be able to make the springs easily

Wow. That does not look good.

Keep an eye on the weather what ever you choose to do. This storm coming in this weekend is suppose to be pretty huge. Not sure if it will bring snow or not but it might get pretty soupy up there regardless.
