I've been watching the JKX footage for years. Awesome stuff. I wish there was something like that for TJ's.

The reason why the JKX is only JKs is because people looked down on JKs during their first years and still do. Some of the big clubs and events didn't allow JKs to wheel with them so Mel decided to make a JK only wheeling adventure.
Here on the forum I'm pretty sure all Jeeps are allowed on the runs as long as they are capable. JKX isn't the only long wheeling trip. Eddie and Cindy put some others together, I would check out the 2015 schedule to find out more.

Why would a club or event not allow JKs? That's like making an event for hybrids but not allowing a Prius to attend....

Not a clue it's just seems like everytime a new jeep is released they aren't considered "jeeps" by older jeep owners for the first couple of years

Pretty sure Mel gives zero fucks what other people think.

I'm pretty sure I read that a big part of the JKX was to prove as a testing ground for manufacturers and the aftermarket products they make.

Take extreme conditions and allow your products to be used to their fullest capabilities. It has grown to be more of an event now in recent years as it has built a following.

I don't think Mel has any issues finding places or people to wheel with. Lol. Just a hunch. 😉

That makes a lot more sense lol not sure where i read it but i believe it was in a magazine interview with Mel. You and Overlander are most definitely right though:cheesy::clap2:

In my opinion if it has solid axles from the factory it's a true Jeep. Hell I even consider the KJ a true Jeep because I've seen what they are capable of. Ever seen a two wheel drive KJ keep up with a non-Rubi JK? I have :p

So if the new wrangler has ifs it won't be a real jeep?

Must be one hell of a trail if a two wheel drive vehicle can keep up on it.

It will be, but it won't be nearly as capable, at least in stock form, as one with solid axles

Actually it was fairly technical. A rear locker and knowing when to use skinny will get you a lot of places that you think a two wheel drive shouldn't be able to go lol
