EVO Bolt On Coilover and Currie Rock Jock Axle Question

Hey guys, I took off the rest of the week to try and get started on this build.
I'm installing the EVO Bolt On Coilover kit with new front and rear Currie Rock Jock Dana 44 axles.
My question is concerning the rear.
The EVO kit calls for cutting the rear lower shock mount and utilizing the rock star skid mounts.
The Currie axles I bought have an adjustable lower shock mount that looks like I may not be able to utilize the rock stars.
The Currie mounts look to be similar in angle to the rock star skids, does anyone foresee a problem with using the lower brackets included on the rock jock?
I want to minimize downtime as this is my daily driver, I don't want to start if I'm going to have to order parts or come up with a custom solution.

I would say cut them and use the rockstars. If you use the curry shock mount you will have all the rear weight of the Jeep supported by 4 bolts, and from your pictures it also looks like the rockstars push the coilover away from the axle tube to provide more clearance for the spring retainer and spring of the coilover. You may have to request the rockstar skids for the D60/HD brackets instead of rockstar skids for stock since your Currie axle has thicker brackets

From the stock picture it looks like the driver side is going to be a bitch.

If I were you I’d probably go ahead and get the front installed and in the meantime call Evo and see what they say. I’m sure they’ve had this combo in the shop before, and if not, I believe the 60 is the same design, just thicker, and they’ll know what to do.

Not trying to be a smart ass but why not just keep the d44 rear you have now that’s already set up? Agree with others above though. Call EVO and Currie. The combo must have come up sometime. They should know what you will need to do.

LOl, beat me to the punch. Like AJ said, you already had a D44, why put the same thing back in at a premium price? :thinking:

Thanks for the feedback, I agree, I don't like the idea of trusting 4 bolts to hold my ass up.
I'm going to unbox the brackets that came with the kit and see if I will be able to utilize them.
If I can get them close I may just mod them a little and weld them on.
I was trying to avoid welding or cutting on my pretty powder coated axles but I guess it's inevitable.
If not I will order the D60 versions, thanks for the part #.

I got too good of a deal to pass it up.
The 60 would have cost about $1,500 more and for my uses the Currie 44 will be plenty strong enough.
I have a sport with the factory 3.21 gears.
I don't live close to any good 4x4 shops and didn't want to send my axle off to be re-geared.
After parts and labor and the hassle of shipping or hauling it somewhere, I only had about $1,200 more in the whole Currie rear axle.
Anyways, if I can't figure something out after messing with the brackets I'll give EVO a call.
I will update you guys when I find out more.

The 60 would have cost about $1,500 more and for my uses the Currie 44 will be plenty strong enough.
I have a sport with the factory 3.21 gears.
I don't live close to any good 4x4 shops and didn't want to send my axle off to be re-geared.
After parts and labor and the hassle of shipping or hauling it somewhere, I only had about $1,200 more in the whole Currie rear axle.

Fair enough.
Just that seems like guys get set on taking their Jeeps to a 4X4 shop to have gears installed when there are often better places, or at least places just as good, to have it done. After all, gears are gears, doesn't matter if it's done by a 4X4 shop or a drag racing specialist. If you ask around the street rod/Hot rod/Muscle car crowd, you can often find that guy that's "the best around" at doing gears. :twocents:
