Well about 2-3 days ago check engine light came on code p0455 large evap leak. Some say it could be gas cap. Well need gas anyways filled up made sure cap was on tight. Turn jeep on still has check engine light on do the code check again and it's read dash and done. What my next step disconnect battery clear out completely any help be great. I haven't been in dirt in awhile so don't think it evap canister.
Thanks

More than likely, you have a leak on or near your EVAP. There is a little white box attached to the EVAP canister and sometimes, the O-ring can go bad on it. I would start there as it's the most common problem and easiest fix - simply remove it and give it a look to see if the O-ring is cracked. If so, you can just apply some RTV and reinstall. If that checks out, give your EVAP a good look as well as the connections to it. Even though you haven't gone wheeling in a while, it takes time for your computer to determine there is a leak. Disconnecting your batter for 15-20 min will clear the codes.

You do not have to worry about fuel, your computer is just letting you know that vapors that would normally get stored in the canister is leaking out. You can drive just fine without the whole thing if you needed to and without issue.

Thanks Eddie helped me out on this one this emission stuff blows. From what I can tell it doesn't look messed up no cracks on any lines. I'll check that o ring next. Just glad my jeep won't blow up if not fix immediately lol

Your jeep may blow up, but not because of that. I had the same code show up on mine and it was a loose hose.

The dealer replaced my o-ring under warranty but the code was still present, after they replaced my gas cal under warranty the code has been gone. I would look into your gas cap if the EVAP shows no signs of damage
