Detailing with De-Solv-It

So after seeing Olram's post about using this on his fenders I decided to try it on the interior. After my recent trip to Death Valley I had my usual issue with armor all not cleaning the interior as well as I would like, I decided to try this.

Here is what it looked like using just the armor all,

Still really nasty after the armor all dries. I sprayed the de-solv-it on and let it sit for about a minute and wiped it off. It now looks like this after it dried,

This stuff is about $10 at the local Ace Hardware.

i was really surprised with this stuff, then just some simple green to keep it clean and bam, good as new! i'm going to stay away from greasy stuff from now on:thumb:

Headed out to grab some of this.........pressure washing the Jeep of all the trail mud and dust and then trying this stuff out on my dash and interior trim plus my fenders.......did you finish with Simply Green or just leave it Adam?

Have you ever tried 303 aerospace protectant? I use that stuff and it works really well. I'm not a fan of armor all. I use the protectant on my interior and my NX top. Keeps them all looking new.

I did not. I only used this stuff. I might try some simple green tomorrow though.

Did you post in your build thread? Link to the fender note?

I have not used that. I had some of this stuff in my garage and after seeing it I decided to try it. I just use tire shine on my trektop though. I'm not sure how this stuff would work on the trektop yet, but I will have to look into it.

Here are my fenders, this stuff turned them black. I'm just using simple green to keep them clean. In my case, the old protectant build up is what caused the grey look. Took some elbow grease and even an old tooth brush. Fenders haven't melted off yet either!

Lol. I've tried everything on my fenders. 303 cleaner, simple green and the normal cover ups like mothers, mcguires, turtle, and armor all.

I have some mean Sedona red dirt stains that won't go away. All the above work ok to cover the stain and make it less noticeable when "wet," but when it dries, the stains are still there.

Might as well try this dissolve it stuff too. Can't hurt.

Tire Foam (not Shine) will pull the dirt out of the fenders BUT will stain the fenders if you leave it on to dry, I use the Armour All "Cleaner Wipes" (not protectant) after and they come right back to black with out any (or very little) residue. The cleaner wipes do well on the interior also without making it all slimy.

Note - use products at own risk

Used these all except the foam on the fender. Not sure I need more stains. Lol.

My jeep is already dirty, this stuff won't keep your fenders jet black and repel dirt. But it definitely got rid of the build up from greasy stuff. The little pores were filled with gunk.. Imo that's what was causing them to turn grey. When I get home I'm going to wash my jeep and see the results after a week.

If it will the gunk out as you posted, that's a great first step. The 303 cleaner, simple green and back to black will do fine for ongoing.

Damp microfiber towel is all that is needed for the interior. :yup:

303 for the exterior. Particularly the soft top, EVO bumpers and carrier.
