So I'm heading out to Denver towards the end of October with my wife. As the title says, we'll have 1 day to play but no jeep. We will have a car to go out and explore. Estes Park & Rocky Mountain National Park are looking pretty promising. We love the outdoors & good food. What suggestions have ye?

I know you are in Denver but....Garden of the Gods, The Paint Mines, Manitou Spings and the cliff dwellings. Jake and Telly's in Old Colorado Springs great Greek food.

We were up in Estes yesterday. If you haven't been there, go there. You'll have a good time. By October, the peaks should have some snow. You could also do a nice drive up and down I-70, beautiful views. Also, Grand Lake is a cool city to check out. There's tons to do around here. The Boulder Pearl Street Mall is cool too. You get everything from greenies, to hippies, to yuppies, to people who don't know what they are yet. It's a fun mall and interesting.

My wife and I were just in Denver for a few days for a wedding but we had some time to get out and explore...I had never been there in the summer before (been there a few times for winter ski trips)

We did some hiking at Brainard Lake and Mitchell Lake which was unbelievable...beautiful sights

We then went up to Estes Park and rented a Yamaha side by side ATV and did a few off-road trails...which was very cool even tho I was wishing I had my JK with me

Then we made it to the garden of the gods in Colorado Springs which was definitely a sight to see

Estes & Rocky mtn Park are Cool, are you renting a car ? If so get a SUV Guanella pass in george Town is Cool,
Plus you could go up Argentine Pass, weather permitting of course...

Thanks for all the info so far. Yes, we're going to rent a car, but it will be a car for sure (not a SUV). Any food that's just too good to miss. We love good food of all sorts. Not a fan of big chains.

If you like Sushi, there is a cool sushi place off Hampden and I25 called Sushi Train. If you sit at the bar, they deliver your food on this little train that goes around. Good quality and good prices too.

There's also Casa Bonita which has cool entertainment if you time it right, I don't think their food is all that good though, pretty average. I would imagine there are youtube videos of this place.

Sushi Train was always a blast! Sushi Den was my Fav when I lived in Denver

Sushi could be good stuff, thanks folks! Are there any foods that Colorado does better than anyone else? We've got biscuits & gravy in the south. Philly has a cheese steak....

We have a lot of organic greenie eco types here in Boulder. Food tastes like crap, but you'll feel like you're eating for a good cause ! :)

I will say if you are a drinker, Colorado has tons of microbrews, some of them have good food. There's some good Indian restaurants here too.

Thanks again. I'm in Asheville, NC so I'm used to tree bark & beer. We are beer city USA for I don't even know how many years now! So it sounds a lot like Boulder. Really appreciate the info & can't wait to get out there!
