So A good friend of mine is about to drop 2000 on his 30. I'm trying to convince him otherwise. Any good ideas or pointers I can pass on to him?
It's a straight 6 on 35s.
let him do it. the best way to learn is the hard way. :bleh: he will do more research on the next one he builds.
Just show him the picture of the difference gearsets and the size difference.
Yeah, there you go. I've got one in my build thread. The D30 pinion gear next to a ballpoint pin. Not much bigger either, lol.

See post #40.
Yep, and the 30 is even smaller.
It's a TJ. And ya just over 2000. He wanted to lock it too but I talked him out of that I think
This is what this guy is telling him to do.
Detroit locker. 4.10s. Sleeve and gusset. It'll beef up my axels. I'll do chromoly axles down the road
If he decides to go 44 up front, how much do you think he can get back out of his built 30? Very little $$ I'd say.
Alright it's done. Good work guys haha. He is going to gear and leave it open. Then just save for a 44
