Left Chicago and onto bigger things! Yesterday we crossed the Kansas/Colorado state line and transitioned from the flat prairies to the beautiful Rocky Mountains. About 50 miles from Denver we came upon one of the biggest storms I'd ever seen.
We really didn't know what to expect so we kept driving until we reached the edge of the storm. Up ahead we noticed that cars were stopped on the side of the road.
Suddenly hail the size of ice cubes started nailing the hood of the car.
My first thought was, holy crap this is going to destroy the Jeep. So at that moment we turned around on the highway, cranked the Jeep into 4WD and crawled across the deep ditch separating the roads. One minute later we were out of the storm.
Luckily we made it out safe without a single dent or scratch. We parked it safely under the highway and waited out the storm.
After the storm passed we continued on past Denver and into the Rocky Mountains. I can tell you now, the sights we saw were some of the most beautiful, God-like sights I'd ever seen.
Well that's just a few of the many adventures we've had on our trip. I'd be glad to hear what you guys have to say! What kinds of extreme weather have you been through in your Jeep?
