Cheers to owning a Fiat...

For those that have not heard, Fiat is wrapping up purchasing the remainder of Chrysler for $4.35B.

From what I was hearing, they will be funneling the chrysler profits over to the EU market where factories are shutting down left and right due to a big downturn in EU sales. But hey, they can now import Mazaratti (sp?) On a Chrysler frame.....

Not sure if this is good news or bad news. The new interior is thanks to the Italians, so thats a plus, they are always great with design. Hell, the new wrangler could look great if they use their designers. However, the reliability and Italian engineering isn't synonymous with reliability and quality. To be perfectly frank, I would NOT want to own a vehicle with an Italian built motor.

Time will tell I guess.

Had a Ducati for awhile. It was a good, reliable bike. Long time ago a Denver cop friend of mine told me they got a few Moto Guzzi police bikes (told you it was long ago) without piston rings installed???!!! This ownership could be a mixed bag, some good, some not so good. Off road is a major no-no in Italy and in Europe in general. They do it, but not like here. Between our own govt. regs and Italian designers I'm nervous. Give me a JK with a big American V-8 and I'll take care of the rest.:twocents:

Maserati and Ferrari aren't too bad, Hell even Alfa Romeo have some good stuff. I used to hate Fiat until I went to Brazil for work. I installed some equipment that makes parts for the Palio. I was pleasantly surprised how much they cared about quality. I had a Fiat Uno as a rental. Their roads are worse than some trails I've done here in the US and I beat the snot out-of that thing.... Really, I tried to destroy it. It never wavered.

Sure, I would've preferred Jeep stay in the US, but we will have to see where they go with things. Early indications are poor. This whole Dragon edition is a joke, and I am catching some insider scoop that the IFS/IRS is probable in the next gen.

I love Alphas..I have a classic in my backyard....
