Check engine light came on and speedometer quit

When I changed my speedometer gear my check engine light came on and my speedometer quit working. Anybody know what to do?

Is it still in place? Did it get put in backwards and the metal teeth chew up the plastic ones?

A wire under the hood had a bad connection and the gear wasn't in all the way. User error on my part. Thanks for the help though

Was gonna suggest check battery connections .. but ya already got it
