i grew up in Chattanooga, tn (lived there for about 10 years), my sister still lives there with her husband and kids, and my wife's family is from there..I also do a lot of training there as I ran the 70.3 ironman and am running the 140.6 ironman in September.. Needless to say, I am in Chattanooga quite a bit. . As far as 'trails' go, there's not much for trail riding right in Chattanooga. Windrock is up around Knoxville, about an hr and a half away. Great ORV park.

However, since you asked about Chattanooga specifically, Prentice Cooper is on Signal mountain. It's got some 'trails' but they are mainly gravel roads with minor creek crossings (no deeper than 3-5 inches of water). There used to be some logging roads up on Bakewell mtn (just north of Soddy Daisy), but I'm not sure they are open to the public anymore.

As far as Chattanooga itself goes.. it's a GREAT city. Downtown is beautiful on the TN river. Lots of stuff for to do both adults and family/kid friendly (aquariums, discovery museum, climbing center, Coolidge Park, great restaurants, etc).

Hope that helped a little..

Luke

Thank you, I searched online and found Prentice Cooper but didn't know if that was about it. I know the kids are excited about everything they found to do.

There is The Cove just north of There. Its a fun place with stuff thats fairly easy to stuff that can get out of hand. The big thing there is the deep water there.

If you're looking to get into some more technical stuff Adventure Offroad Park is 20 minutes north of Chatt.

Ultimate Adventure just finished their week there.

Prentice Cooper is probably the best bet for a short half day trip. It has a couple great overlooks and plenty of trails. It's not going to be challenging and it can all easily be done stock. It's about a 30-40 minute drive from Warner park and camp Jordan. It's a bit of a drive from summit but easily doable for a half day trip.

Haley's road is about the most challenging and has a water crossing that came up to my door seals before. However, the other time it was maybe halfway up the tires.

Just make sure to check if they're open. They close sometimes for turkey season.

Have fun!
