California, Nevada & Utah - Skipping Work

OverlanderJK

Resident Smartass
After seeing some of the pictures from the JKX I was itching to get out to Utah and Nevada to do some wheeling, so along with ttfhell a trip was planned. Since ttfhell's jeep was still getting a heart transplant he rode along with me and took 90% of the pictures you are about to see. So here goes nothing!

Wednesday morning we met up and topped off the tanks to head to Las Vegas!

First destination state

image.jpg

After airing down we hit a trail called Tie Rod Canyon

View from the top

Coming to the waterfall area

image.jpg

Up the first part

image.jpg

Ralph's turn

image.jpg

Headed out toward the next trail

image.jpg

image.jpg

Next trail we did was Potato Ridge

Ralph entering the wash

image.jpg

Getting flexed up

image.jpg

Working our way through

image.jpg

The road out is just as fun as the trail itself. Dirt shelf road that winds it way up and then down the mountain

image.jpg

Airing back up. (If you look really really closely you can see a couple guys climbing up the rocks in the back. One is wearing a yellow shirt)

image.jpg

Headed out on Day two to go North from Vegas!

image.jpg

Not too shabby

image.jpg

Heading into the first obstacle for the day

After seeing Eddie's pictures of the S Turn over a year ago I have wanted to do so this was the perfect chance.

image.jpg

And through!

image.jpg

Onto the next obstacle

image.jpg

Ralph made it through easily. Now was my turn

image.jpg

Got the front up no problem. Tried bumping the rear and....

image.jpg

I don't think this is supposed to happen

image.jpg

Put it in 4 hi and headed for the road. Got back to the road and called JE Reel to see where i could get it fixed to get me back on the trail and they sent me to Adam's Driveshaft in Vegas. I called Adam's and when I showed up they were waiting for me. They rebuilt the driveshaft and had me on my way in no time. Being that we were back in vegas I sent a buddy a text and met up for dinner. And what is a wheeling trip without a trip to the mall?

image.jpg

Day 3 we were headed into Utah

image.jpg

Before we left we got ahold of a few locals who were happy to lead us around Sand Hollow OHV for both days we were there.

image.jpg

By 10AM we were already making the day interesting

image.jpg

This place has amazing views and awesome wheeling. Truly a great place to wheel!

image.jpg

Not the best place if you don't like heights and steep climbs

Continuing on

I got a little stuck. Soft sand with no traction and caught on rocks on both sides. Ralph gave me a little tug and I was good to go

image.jpg

Did I mention the views here were incredible?

image.jpg

Don't look down

image.jpg

Moving forward

image.jpg

Saying thanks to our guides as they aired up

image.jpg

For day 4 Russ and I thought it would be a good idea to go doorless (it was that good of an idea, it was COLD)

image.jpg

Trying a fun notch

image.jpg

image.jpg

image.jpg

Beautiful views again

image.jpg

Straight up!

image.jpg

Ever see a lifted liberty diesel on the trail?

image.jpg

Another ledge

image.jpg

image.jpg

Straight down

image.jpg

image.jpg

image.jpg

Back straight up again

image.jpg

image.jpg

image.jpg

image.jpg

And down again

image.jpg

Off camber and a cliff not too far away, lets go up!

image.jpg

(that's the ledge that the orange 4 door (piginajeep) broke on the JKX video. I was not about to try it without lockers and having already broke my driveshaft two days before)

image.jpg

Off Camber

image.jpg

And back up

image.jpg

Back down

image.jpg

Ralph didn't take this dune at the best angle

Those are all the pics I have. Ralph and others have more so hopefully they can post up to fill in some of the gaps. There is a lot more to see then what the pictures show. Hope you enjoyed!

Nice pics Adam! I envy how much you get to wheel! I wish there was a video of how you sheared that driveshaft, I can only imagine! Looks like you guys had a fun mini jkx

My ride- 2001 power wheel, 11" plastic tires, upgraded battery, boat sides, custom bumpers, tow hooks, new paint.

It's on video but from the front of the jeep. All you hear is a pop and them saying driveshaft. I couldn't really hear the bang from inside.

Looks like a great time! Potato ridge is one of my favorite runs down there. I have to get to the S curve soon. :thumb: And the Grand Canyon...wow...just wow!

You gonna make the marathon run?

That wasn't the Grand Canyon. That was just Sand Hollow OHV. We skipped the Grand Canyon part.

And I am a maybe for the marathon. Thinking about it though.
