Best engine oil and oil filter for the 3.6?

I purchased a used 13 rubicon last month and the previous owner said it was close to needing a oil change. It has 35k miles. What do you recommend for a good oil and how often should it be changed?

I use Havoline Pro DS full synthetic oil and a Wix oil filter. The 3.6 engine runs hot on hills so the synthetic oils will perform better against thermal breakdown.

Why Havoline? Because it comes in a 6 qt container and is very reasonably priced. I don’t have to buy an extra quart with the standard 5 qt jug as I do with the other brands.

Really, you can put whatever oil you want in the Jeep, just don’t cheap out on the oil filter! And change the oil and filter religiously! I change it at 7k. You’ll have to change conventional twice as often - 3-5k.

I always change oil at 3k. Even though manufacture says you can go to 5k, I've always been a 3ker.

2013 with 116,000 miles. I use Valvoline full synthetic high mileage with a Wix filter and change it every 6,000 miles.

I always used pennzoil ultra platinum and a mopar filter when I had my jk, no complaints. Everyone has their own preference

I use Mobil 1 and I use an ac delco filter since I work at a GM dealer. Usually change my oil every 3k miles or every 5-6 months.

After dealership explained to me that improper filters will void a warranty on a RAM I've made sure to run Mopar filters. Sure they may not be as convenient to buy and cost a few more dollars if you have a warranty I'd hate to have them void it over a filter issue.

My owners manual says every 8k miles or 6 months. Thats also when my indicator goes on. I do mine every 4k bit it also works out to about to 6 months or so.
Should be 5w-20
Depends on the year of manufacture. My 2012 says 5w-30 on the dip stick. Living in a hotter climate I prefer the heavier weight in the summer. I still struggle with 0w-20 in my Nissan...haha. No matter the choice I always go with full synthetic in my vehicles.

Costco's a good place to pick up Mobile 1. They have it on sale all the time for $26 for 6 quarts.

Wix makes the Mopar oil filters.

+1 on this. I just take it to the dealer, they charge $45, top all the fluids and I avoid having to hear the wife bitch in the off chance I were to spill any oil on the garage floor...

I don’t know about best but like a couple others, I run Mobil 1 and usually a Wix filter. Every 3k.

If you take the “for this engine” part out and just look up oils you’ll get better information. The Amazon essentials oil is testing well/better against expensive synthetics. And as always keep up on the changes regardless of oil type and it’ll be fine. And never use Fram (cardboard) oil filters.

I use mobil 1 cuz I can get it anywhere. Was told by a mechanic friend of mine that consistent oil changes with the same oil is best. That’s why he advised Mobil 1. Can get it at any gas station, Costco, Walmart. I go upwards of 7k on an oil change, cuz I get my oil tested once a year. Testing your oil is like a blood test. They’ll tell you if there’s something in your oil that shows something in your engine is breaking down and exactly what component of the engine they see in the oil and you can stay ahead by fixing it.
Filters, I just go to the parts shop at the dealer and get when I need.

I use Pennzoil Platinum, Mopar filter, and change every 5k. I Iike that every Autozone, O'reily, and Walmart always have it in stock. I found that Mobile 1 can be hit and miss alot.
