Arb fridge inside basket question

I took out the basket inside my arb fridge to clean it and noticed that it started rusting and it's broken through the plastic coating, should I paint to cover and keep using it or bite the bullet and buy a new one, I'm curious if it will keep rusting inside after painting and sealing...

My latch broke and they sent me one no questions asked.

I always wash and store the blasket seperately to avoid rust
