Adjustable short arm kits.

I've been looking at short arm lifts in 3-3.5" range. I see that some come with adjustable uppers while others have adjustable lower arms. What are your opinions? Which is better? Does it even matter?

What kits are you looking at? I was under the impression you need adjustable uppers on the rear to correct the pinion angle and lowers up front for the caster.

But lengthening an upper rolls the axle the same as shortening a lower and vice versa. So if the job can be accomplished by either one, does it matter which you use?

You need rear uppers and front lowers at a minimum for that much lift. You want to use those to correct your geometry, you do not want to shorten anything you want to lengthen those two.

The upper rear arms are used to adjust the pinion angle of the rear axle when you add an aftermarket driveshaft.

The lower rear arms are used to lengthen your wheel base that is lost when you lift your rig.

The front lower arms are used to either regain lost wheel base from a lift or to adjust the angle of the front axle for correct caster alignment, or both.

The front upper arms are used to adjust the angle of the front axle for correct caster alignment specs if the front lower arms were used to regain wheel base.

Depends on what size tire you plan to run whether or not you need to adjust wheel base.
