I’ve been watching a lot of Wayalife YouTube videos. First the Rubicon ones, then the Calamity Jane ones.
I have a 1980 CJ-5. I was shopping for an intermediate CJ, but the ones around here at that time were either junk, too modded, or overpriced, or some combination of the three. Then I found my CJ. It’s only a four cylinder, but I’m thinking about swapping in an AMC 2.5 in place of my Pontiac 2.5. I actually prefer the I4 over a V8 and plan on keeping it, just forward dating it a little.
I bought it from a dealer, but think I got a pretty good deal. Here’s how it’s equipped:
* Base 2.5 liter CJ-5 with power steering and non-power brakes
* 4.10 diff ratios
* ARB rear locker and onboard air
* Dana 44 rear axle
* Dana 30 front with a lunchbox locker
* Warn winch
* Warn locking hubs front and rear for flat towing
* 33x12.5 tires on 10x15 wheels
Planned mods:
* Jeep TJ rear flares
* Poison Spyder front flat fenders
* Poison Spyder rocker panels with sliders
* Poison Spyder front bumper either with no stinger or the smallest one
* 4:1 transfer case gears
* T-5 transmission in place of the SR-4
* 33x10.5 tires on 8x15 wheels
* M.O.R.E. steering box bracket and brace
* RCV front CV axles
* AMC 2.5 EFI motor with MegaSquirt
Then I think I want to run it on the Rubicon!
