Hey Guys I got a friend who's selling me his older c20 with a 350 on it. The truck runs good, but is two wheel drive. My question is, what kind of transfer case do I have to buy, and would my axle be able to handle that engine, I even asked myself have anyone try the truck axles on a jeep or is not possible.

Well- assuming your profile is correct and you are in a Yj, Your stock axles (likely a dana 35 rear and dana 30 front) would not be a good idea with a v8. truck axles are certainly a possibility. People do it all the time. It is much easier to do in your garage given that you have leaf springs.

As far as the tranny. It is a 2wd version that does not mate to a transfercase without doing a divorced transfercase or changing the tail shaft. If I was doing that swap, I would look for an sm420 (Muncie 4 speed) or sm465 from a 4x4 and then you would be able to Bolt up a transfercase right to it.

The sm420 Is awesome because its first gear ratio is like 7:1! It's a super low granny gear. It's also a super short transmission which will help with your driveshaft lengths.

The 465 is not quite as low, and not quite as short, but it's a Little stronger. Only 6ish:1

Just make sure you are ready to tackle a big project if you decide to go that route.

You can find some 465s with np205 transfer cases on them. They are a cast case and all gears. No chain. The 465s with a 205 out of a Chevy will be pass drop though.
