In 1911, the Marmon Wasp was the car that Ray Harroun drove to win the first Indianapolis 500 automobile race. Back then, it took him 6 hours, 42 minutes and 8 seconds to do it averaging a speed of 74.6 MPH. What as unique about this car was at the time, it was the first to have an aerodynamic cowl and a long tail to help reduce win drag but more importantly, it was the first to utilize a rear view mirror to help Harroun to see if there were cars behind him. It's this kind of innovation out of necessity that makes vintage cars like this so cool.

In the 5th picture, is that supposed to be a shock absorber?

Definitely a cool car, with a great history!
