2012 jk 3.6 tick

I have a 2012 with 85k on it and it sounds like the passenger side is ticking and I think it is getting worse over time. I can really hear it good with the doors off or if I'm driving beside a wall. Is this normal for these motors or something more serious

It's a head tick. There is a recall for it to 100k miles I believe.

Not normal but extremely common. Go to the dealer let them screw up your motor a few times and maybe you'll get out of it ok.

My buddy just got his replaced in his 2012 under the recall and he was actually under 40k miles.

Lol! So true the dealer screwed up my head swap. It ended up blowing the motor.

Or the motor was gone prior to the repair..

Overlander, can you shed some light on that recall? I googled it and find a bunch of other shit but nothing engine related. I also looked it up by vin and it says there are recalled for my vin. I have a 2012 but I'm not sure of manufacturing date, I will need to look when I get off work.
