1st oil change

At how many miles should I get my first oil change I'm assuming 3,000, but I've already past that I'm thinking 3,500 at how many miles was your first oil change in your JK?

they always say 3 months or every 3,000 miles (whichever comes first) you should get it done. i go by the 3,000 miles cause i usually drive about 6-700 miles a month so i go longer than the 3 month time frame they give you
 
The jeep has a "duty cycle" which means based on your personal driving style, the oil indicator change light will turn on for the next change. in addition, The owners manual states to not exceed 8k miles or 6 months for the next oil change. For me, what I did was change my first oil at 1k miles just to get any possible contaminants from the break in period. Thereafter I have been changing it every 5-6k miles.

I changed my at 3K just because I get free oil changes and inspections for the first year. Plus I was taking the family up to Sequoia National Park and wanted to get rid of the factory oil before I drove it up into the high elevations. But usually I change every 5K. I figure the manual usually say something around 7500, and the oil companies say every 3000. I figure the manufacturers want the engine to wear out eventually so you will by another. And the oils companies want you to change more often to sell you more oil. So 5K is a happy medium.

This is exactly what I do and have done
 
1,150 for the first one.

Other changes:

19,060
And just about to do it again at ~25K.
