The gm recall has nothing to do with the oil being the cause. That was due to the crankshafts being made in Mexico out of inferior metal causing failure. The same crankshaft made in New York out of us steel saw no failures.

Best way to see if the wheel is bent is to take the tire off and spin the wheel on its own. Only then will you know. On a non headlock wheel usually under 3/4oz means the wheel is straight and not bent.
