    Tire size?

The reason I asked about elevation is that air density decreases as elevation increases. The main factor for a vehicle's fuel economy is that it has to push air out of the way. At higher elevation, the air density decreases on the order of 20-22%. To me, this suggests that we should see...

The ECONOMY - This is Fine 🤪

It is best to not forget that an economic downturn started under Biden and has continued under Trump. Trump was surprised when the previously reported jobs number were updated to really bad numbers. The employment numbers still look really bad. When people are feeling insecure about their job...

The ECONOMY - This is Fine 🤪

At least for Japanese auto imports I found this recent article: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr70rg7ejdpo So Trump reduced the tarrif on Japanese cars to just 15% in September. Much less than a possible 45% (had been 27% after it had temporarily been a higher number). Thanks for the...

Show Us Your Cool Aircraft Photos

It would be cool to buy one of these planes, but the cost to move it even a few miles might be more than the purchase price!

The ECONOMY - This is Fine 🤪

Thanks for repeating the text. I did read it. I am not such a short term thinker. The auto makers can not continue filling in the gap forever if they are actually covering the tarrif (45%???!!!) for some sales. They likely hope that Trump will discontinue some tarrifs once he makes a deal. Just...

The ECONOMY - This is Fine 🤪

Tariffs are surely going to be entirely passed on to the customer to pay, but we have watched this auto industry problem grow for at least ten years already.

    Maybe it is just like in school: 9+ = A 8 = B 7 = C 6 = D 5 and below means F(ucked) Or maybe it means something else entirely. 😀

    Tire size?

Are you a spectacularly uninformed person, or just being funny? Another factor I encounter when driving from low elevation to high elevation is that the tire pressures get quite a lot higher. This results in less rolling resistance. I can tell that a chalk test would fail because of where the...

In The Shop - Disciple Off Road

It IS true! That is why Jeeps come with a flat bed area in the back where you can put a beer (Pliny The Elder) cooler in to properly balance the Jeep. Maintaining a properly balanced Jeep is important!

    Tire size?

What is your average elevation? My 2-door gets really good mileage at higher elevation (>5k), but the mileage really goes down at low elevation. At higher elevation the air is less dense so it is easier to drive through.

    Tire size?

Yes, you will see 8th speed again. But it is still good to regear (to 4.56) if you can afford it. I have 35" Nitto tires on a 2-door Rubicon and it still does often run in 8th on the highway. However, I have the 2.0T motor which develops a lot of torque while at speed. I do wish the gearing was...

DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE - Do You Give Straight 10s?

In most of our car/Jeep purchases the dealership has tried (or succeeded) with screwing us over during the final purchasing process. For example "forgetting" to include the promised $2,500 discount, or secretly adding things to the purchase documents. Luckily, we did catch the underhanded tricks...
