slow leak in tire = patch or plug?

Since the patch will be inside the tire carcass it will do less than a well inserted plug that goes from the the outside to the inside of the tire. With the patch cement the plug will do a better job to protect water going in the belt if that is the concern. The patch will do little to...

slow leak in tire = patch or plug?

Sorry but sounds like total bullshit.... A shitty tire repair is a shitty tire repair, a plug repair with cement well done will work perfectly well without any issues. Keep in mind water will have a hard time getting into a tire that has...ahhh air inside :D In your line of thought might as...

slow leak in tire = patch or plug?

fill tire about 5 psi over max rating. Get a spray bottle with water and soap. Figure were the leak is coming form, THEN ask about a patch or plug. Could be something as silly as a bad valve. yes make sure to spray the valve too ;) Good luck!

It would be nice to have 2.8 L diesel.

We got a chance to meet and wheel along the Rubicon this month a group from Belgium. They shipped their Diesel JK's over to run the trail and back. The jeeps are very close to stock overall (from what they mentioned not many modifications allowed on the cars in Belgium such as lifts etc). The...

    New in box MOPAR Clockspring

I bought this new from the dealer for a 2010JK. My understanding is the same part will work on all 2007 and up Wranglers and other Chrysler cars and vans as well (they superseed the part number every year but it it pretty much the same). My pat number is part MOPAR 5156106AF same as...

VIDEO : BREAKING a TIRE BEAD & RESEATING it with FIRE!

You are mixing things. I am not making any reasoning on why it works, actually the gas does not need to be evenly distributed at all for the trick to work. I would say try it yourself or browse one of the many videos online... IMO, there is no need to use a hammer, SPECIALLY as in the example...

VIDEO : BREAKING a TIRE BEAD & RESEATING it with FIRE!

Agreed, the above pic is all kinds of bad stuff waiting to happen. We can not fix stupid :) I think the hammer was used to equalize the gas, not pressure right?

VIDEO : BREAKING a TIRE BEAD & RESEATING it with FIRE!

ops darn auto correct, yep WD40 :D Eddie, not arguing or implying "bad-assness level," but have had inner beads popping, and removing a heavy fawker tire to reset the bead when it can be done properly and safely done in the rig, is wasted time and effort..when done correctly. I still see no...

VIDEO : BREAKING a TIRE BEAD & RESEATING it with FIRE!

Cool video and tips. I do disagree with some comments though. You can actually leave the valve stem sealed, on a regular 33-35" the pop will inflate the tire to about 10 psi. The hammer is news to me, if you spray properly there is no need to "equalize", as the starter fluid is in gas form...

    Smittybilt SRC Cage review

This is more of a review than a write-up, but I wanted to provide some info on the Smittybilt SRC trail cage as these have been mythical and in back order for a while. I was looking for a bolt on solution to strengthen the JK before I take the plunge for a full cage (one tons are higher...
