You could probably tie a simple cobra knot or even a king cobra knot with the handle in the middle of the knot. The king cobra is what used in most of the grab handles. Basically you tie the cobra all the way down, then you tie it again making the bar larger.

Have you seen the speedclips? I have seen these but never used them. Threading molle can be a PITA but if you don't have to swap them often it's not that big a deal. These may make swapping easier though...
