My brother runs a museum back east built in 1782. He let me sight in this nearly six foot long .50 Cal. Originally manufactured for hunting, it was used in the revolutionary war by local militia.

Picture below was my vantage point from 11:30PM to 3AM. No northern lights, but the skies did clear and a few of the meteors had trails like I have never seen. Mostly shooting stars, but a couple had insane dust behind them.

Yea the cats clearly bolt to the head. The threaded cat flange, I did not know about… OP has likely gone full aftermarket exhaust and glass packs at this point…Godspeed OP… I know a guy in ocean springs Mississippi that will straight pipe the whole shootin’ match for you if it comes down to it…

Gotta be honest, I didn’t realize any of this connection was threaded. I assumed both flanges were through holes. I would agree standard drill methods apply. Wondering if the original post was some sort of a trick question… Why would you replace the cats? How would that be easier than...

Good point. Definitely something to look out for. I personally would still try and tap them out first. Of course, the caveat applies: “Don’t f it up.” Especially if you suck with a hammer.

You’re trying to remove the broken bolts, correct? Do you have a pic? My first try would be heat it up and beat the broken bolt out of the hole with a stake punch. If it works, you’re done fast. I hate drilling.

Same. NoFX / Punk in Drublic fest was in Denver. The Streetlight show was also in Denver the following weekend. And yea punk in Drublic’s last stop is San Pedro in October. I’m thinking about flying out for the weekend. Surf Seal beach in the day and NoFX in the evening…
