Oil Slinger - Mopar (68331198AB) - Anyone make a 3D Print and have a model to share?

I am having some fun modeling and printing my own, especially using different colors to start conversations. And of course, all parts I print say FJB, which make them that much better.

So these parts are essentially a scam. I wonder how many of these sell at Quadratec for $38. I also imagine that any new shafts installed by a JEEP Dealership would hit the customer for this charge as well. Just one of many examples of how reading Wayalife forums saves money. Not only do you end...

When installing Ball Joints, apply anti-seize to BJ or going in Dry?

Seems more like that is a batch number. I opened another box of them, I bought 4 sets, they are various numbers yet all boxes indicated they are for JT.

When installing Ball Joints, apply anti-seize to BJ or going in Dry?

Good thinking, but I opened the other box and it seems that this is some sort of quality control or batch number. They even label the boxes with the name of the guy who packed them.

Oil Slinger - Mopar (68331198AB) - Anyone make a 3D Print and have a model to share?

My Axle dust covers are printing now. They are two piece for easy installation and will have plastic connectors to go in the two holes you see to connect the two halves together. I might also use some super glue just because. Let me know if anyone wants some, or wants the model. It was only...

Oil Slinger - Mopar (68331198AB) - Anyone make a 3D Print and have a model to share?

The chromoly axle shafts I ordered did not come with these plastic "dust covers" or whatever they are. But here's a picture of a stock axle shaft that does have one which you can see just above my hand. And YES, In this photo I'm handling my shaft in my bathroom. Where better to take pictures...

Oil Slinger - Mopar (68331198AB) - Anyone make a 3D Print and have a model to share?

If @OverlanderJK says to skip it, that's good enough for me. I have no idea why the call it an Oil Slinger, might make some expert level Mopar Trivia.

The plastic part that slides onto your Axle shaft , it's basically a dust cover so crap doesn't get into your axle housing as I understand it. Looks similar to the pic below. When my U Joint exploded, it shredded this part.

Oil Slinger - Mopar (68331198AB) - Anyone make a 3D Print and have a model to share?

Crown Automotive makes a 2-piece axle Oil Slinger for $6, that's a tougher price to beat but not sure about the two piece design.

Oil Slinger - Mopar (68331198AB) - Anyone make a 3D Print and have a model to share?

Quadratec has these for $35, Some discounters have them for like $28. Seems like it's cheaper and just as good to just 3D Print these. Before I go make a model in Fusion 360, has anyone already done so? And if not, I will post the model here after I make it if someone tells me that doing such...

When installing Ball Joints, apply anti-seize to BJ or going in Dry?

FUN FACT, In the Synergy HD BJ Packing list, it mentions 1 Flat Washer, Grade 8, 9/16" SAE. HOWEVER, In none of the packages do these washers exist. I looked in all the spare sets I ordered as well. In Synergy's instructions, they mention using this washer between the LWR BJ and the Castle Nut...

When installing Ball Joints, apply anti-seize to BJ or going in Dry?

After asking here. @wayoflife said that he was disappointed in the RCV product, and that the chromoly axle assemblies from Spicer were just as good for less money. Wayalife saving me money again so I bought $50 worth of stickers.

When installing Ball Joints, apply anti-seize to BJ or going in Dry?

FYI, I'm getting grief from mechanic friends who are saying they've never seen a BJ that doesn't use the entire hole. It's completely flush and I think it looks similar to how @wayoflife shows in his excellent video which I'm following. Please tell me if this is wrong. Will take a lunch break...

When installing Ball Joints, apply anti-seize to BJ or going in Dry?

synergy gives two Zirc fitting options for the LWR BJ, one normal Zirc and one FLUSH FITTING Zirc. Any thoughts about which to use. Ideally, I'd like to use the normal as getting grease into the flush fitting seems like a PITA. But if you guys tell me that something will hit this fitting and...

When installing Ball Joints, apply anti-seize to BJ or going in Dry?

Too late for Driver Side. :( Already installed but will use that trick on the other side. But I got it pretty clean with scotchbrite pad and break kleen. Adding that to my bag of tricks though, Thanks!

When installing Ball Joints, apply anti-seize to BJ or going in Dry?

So many solid perspectives in this seemingly simple thread. THIS is exactly why I return to this site at least once a day. I think I'm going to decide on Not using anti-seize and just be precise and careful about pressing them in. I did buy a decent ball joint press. I could easily see someone...

Axle Hub Nut - Service Manual Says to Discard and get new one.

I'm going to replace since they are cheap but keep the old ones in case there is a friend in need on trail. I will use blue thread lock and of course torque to spec, then mark with paint as I do all my bolts.

When installing Ball Joints, apply anti-seize to BJ or going in Dry?

I have seen several videos installing ball joints where people are applying anti-seize. However, when watching a Wayalife video on installing ball joints, I didn't see a step for apply anti-seize. Also, the Service Manual makes no mention of a step to apply anti-seize. Are there upsides and...
