    After market diff covers

I see what you mean I haven’t used it in years but specific heat: Q =s•m•∆T shows that relationship between heat applied, mass and temp change. I don’t know why I thought it had a function of time in it 😅

    After market diff covers

True I see what you mean but in that case wouldn’t it take longer to reach the same temperature? Plus that’s only if they are made out of the same material (steel vs iron). Metal working isn’t my field nor am I a welder so I’m genuinely asking to learn.

    After market diff covers

Just to be clear factory diffs offer the most cooling they are thin to allow for heat dissipation and are shaped with a curve to fully lubricat the gear assembly. Some aftermarket coves jack up the fluid dynamics and can starve the bearings from oil plus they are very thick and take a long time...

    After market diff covers

Ok I haven’t heard of overheating gears but I think what you’re referring to is that the gear oil can get thin enough to damage locker position sensor since they are cheaply made and not potted. But that only effects rubicons/Mojave’s plus the work around for that though is just using 75w140...

What was done to your rig this week?

Finished up the axle install once the drive shafts were shortened. Set the pinion angle and broke in the gears over the last few days.

    Perdue’s JT build

Thanks first time being able to wrench in the Jeep in a while. Thank you also mad respect for you and the hard work you do, I’m sore as hell after crawling around for the last day and a half. But it was well with the effort lol.

    Crate axle break in

Silly question that I may know the answer. But for a new crate axle do you have to do the same process for breaking in gears after a re-gear. Or do you treat it like a new factory axle and change the oil at its first service interval.

4.88 may be a little to much for 38s bubba normally would recommend 4.88 for 40s and 4.56 for 38s but then again the off the line feel won’t be the same. But one thing to consider I believe with 4.56 you have two teeth of the ring in pinion engaged vs one tooth when you go with a 4.88/5.13

I don’t think so, unfortunately with that much back spacing your tire is in the field of view of the sensors found on the bumper and thinks something is behind you. Relocating Jaela’s tire up 2 inches helped but the problem is still there. It wasn’t until we had an adjustable mount where we...

Thanks for the heads up I’ll order them sooner than later. A few friends i wheel with only do night runs during the mid to late summer since trails in lower Nevada can become miserable due to the heat lol.

Damn Motobuilt Highline Fenders are on sale.

They look pretty good but depending on your lift and tire combo you might have to much fender gap. But I prefer genright or nemesis fenders overall if I did swap out the factory ones. Have you looked at the fender chop DRL brackets they clean up the front of the Jeep pretty well and are a...

I don’t think you’ll regret your decision if i didn’t give away my set of dirty life beadlocks to my neighbor last year you could have taken mine. But they are HEAVY when compared to my KMC grenade crawl. The dirty life was 45 pounds without the bead lock rings and hardware installed. And the...
