ARB Brushless Compressors

Has anyone bought and are using this new compressor? I’ve used it a bunch since the install and I’m happy with the air-up times (when it works) but not happy at all with the overall performance.

While it’s running, it’ll frequently alternate between high and low power and will ultimately slowly reduce power until it barely pushes air. For the alternating power, ARB said it’s because it’s not getting enough power because of the smart alternator the Jeeps use. So using the Tazer I programmed a button on the steering wheel to ramp up the idle RPMS using the winch mode. That helped a bit but it still alternated throughout airing up.

The worst problem I’m having now is that it powers down before I can even finish airing up the third tire.

It could be that I have a bad one but so far I feel it’s a piece of shit.

I have only installed them but haven’t really used it for long to know it performance. Will be something I have to pay attention to.

Well that's a bummer to hear :(

That blows! Wait, I guess it doesn’t.

I still have the old double and was curious if the upgrade would be worth it because my double pumps extremely hot air.
This is the single, and while they say it’s as fast as the original double, I highly doubt it. And for what it’s worth, this one is extremely hot.

The air out of mine is crazy hot, enough so that I’ve been considering tank options.
If you’re concerned with the heat, you may still go with that plan; this one is just as hot, if not hotter. They have a fan built in to try and mitigate the compressor heat but the air going into the tires is really hot. You may have to top the tires off when you get home, but I had to do that with the original one too at times.

Well I have been looking into compressors for the van. I have original singles in both our jeeps and they work great. Was debating on getting the new brushless but this info has me thinking I'm going to go with the original single. The shop I've been using to get van parts through sells a compressor called Tire-Rite. I had never heard of them before they told me about them.

It’s possible mine is just bad, my experience may not be yours. I’m calling them tomorrow, which will be my second with this unit, and we’ll see how they respond. I literally have one of the first units they made so there’s that.

I’ll follow up tomorrow after my call.
