And so it Begins... the 392

Make some noise on that table.
To be fair, we're not making a video on this. Originally, we were just going to swap out coils for a set of EVO but then thought, while we're at it, maybe we should just completely swap out everything for EVO. So, the install would basically be the same as what we've already done.

Plus, I'm using my rack and people would have lost their shit if we made a video with it LOL

That’s going to be really nice! Keeping the Ohlins on there?

🤣

ahhh how quickly they grow up...

"we just took delivery of the first of our very first mod to come..."

"A big part of me wants to keep it stock just for that reason. It's just so hard not to mod though LOL"
LOL - it's a slippery slope for sure 🤪

Yeah, really been happy with the Ohlins. Hoping they'll work better with the EVO coils.

Looking good! Curious to hear your thoughts on the EVO coils with the Ohlins. I think that’s going to be a very nice combo.

When are we throwing some gears in it? 🤪
I should note that I was never unhappy with the ride the Rancho coils provided. That said, after installing my winch, my front end sagged enough to make the Ohlins not work as well as they had without it. As in, they didn't have enough up travel to effectively use the bump zones or at least, not without having to crank up the firmness. Needless to say, I either needed to install spacers or test out new coils.

That said and what I can tell you so far is that the Rancho coils are much taller than the EVO's. It took some effort to install and remove them where as the EVO coils had a lot of room to spare. I was told by EVO that their coils should be firmer and so far, they do seem to offer about the same amount of ride height as the Rancho's. Unfortunately, I went ahead and installed the 3" bump stop extensions that came with the kit but they are robbing about 2" of up travel on my shocks so, I'll be removing them today and swapping in the 1.5" Synergy extensions back in. Of course, this is all because of the stupid tall 392 bump towers.

Hoping to get some ride testing in soon and yes, re-gaining some lost power would be very nice 🤪

If the EVO coils are shorter than the Rancho, are they a thicker diameter coil material? or do they have a tighter wind?

Trying to understand how they are a firmer coil.

Too bad Ohlins didn’t have a matching set of hydraulic bumps like the KINGS, that would be sweet. Unless…..that’s in the works.
You know. I tried to talk to the Ohlins guys a few weeks ago at the Sea Otter Classic. (A massive mountain bike expo and race event)
They had a few motorsports shocks on display so I wanted to ask about bumps and other things.

Probably cause I don’t have a set of tits and obviously not a pro looking for sponsorship but they were all fucking assholes that wouldn’t give me the time of day.

Wow, that sucks to hear. I do know they have different divisions within the company and wonder if that was just a matter of them being the mountain biking crew. All the motorsport guys I've met were super nice and at SEMA, their display was outside where the general public could come through and they seemed nice to everyone or at least, from what I saw.

Looking good Eddie, I’ve been debating adding the drop brackets to mine too, happy with how it’s drives now, but having had those before it does make quite a difference. Really need to get long arms tho 😂
LOL - long arms are the better solution for sure. I'm not even really a fan of drop brackets but being that I don't really plan on wheeling this Jeep, I figured they'd be fine.

Yea. It was a bummer. I just told myself that it was the afternoon on the last day of a long week so they were just burnt out.

Okay, got the new and lower bump stops installed and I'm much happier with the amount of up-travel we now have. At full bump, there's still 1/2" of shock shaft to go so I'll call it good. Here are some after shots of what our 392 looks like now - essentially, pretty much the same LOL
