I've wondered the same thing LOLHave you ever been anywhere and suffered gastric distress from the cuisine?
I suffered it from looking at the picture.Have you ever been anywhere and suffered gastric distress from the cuisine?
I suffered it from looking at the picture.
I had a few unpleasant days in Isla Mujeres, Q.R., Mexico in 2018. In Panajachel, Guatemala 2023 both my wife and I were treated for issues that required both antibiotics and an antiparasitic. Also in 2023 I might have left Ethiopia with a gift from a friend's home cooking.Have you ever been anywhere and suffered gastric distress from the cuisine?

I don't think it is too bad for eating in over 80 countries in the last seven years.
The first two boxes of medication are the same thing from different companies. We try to always have some with us. Third picture is what we got from the free clinic in Guatemala.

When I was staying at the Hilton Addis Ababa there was a wedding there and they hacked up a cow in the lobby. You have a well hardened digestive track my friend!
I spent a lot of time in Ethiopia and always got sick, always. The food tasted good but the sanitary precautions weren’t sanitary at all. With very few exceptions when the cattle are slaughtered they are cut into smaller chunks and then displayed on boards with rusty nails in an open air market. The meat is swarming with flys as they cut off chunks. As in most of the Third World there is no concept of modern ‘butcher cuts’ it’s just random hacking.
In Addis you might find some imported meat in the nicer more modern markets and restaurants but in the vast majority of places it’s as described above.
Safe travels and enjoy!
I liked this part of Ethiopia much better than Addis. You have a well hardened digestive track my friend!

Las Vegas is our most common USA airport. I have not tried any Ethiopian restaurants in Las Vegas. There is a large Ethiopian and Eritrean population in Vegas so there are several good restaurants there if you’re ever that way. I like it, the wife does not.![]()
