Nope no snow and was actually pretty warm. A lot warmer than it was last year.
Yup it’s horsetail fall that turns into firefall this time of year. Awesome sight to see!

We’ve tried a few times. Only caught tiny glimpses one year of the firefall due to rain, fog, snow or low water. How were the crowds? It gets so out of hand for these couple weeks in February.

Thanks this is the second year we saw it. Last year was way better and more vibrant in color. It’s definitely hit or miss depending on the weather. I felt this year the before sunset was better. The shot I took wasn’t even really at sunset.
This was last year:
I usually stay in the valley for the weekend so that way I have multiple nights to maybe catch it and watch the weather constantly. Still 50/50 though sadly.
The crowds aren’t too bad I would say. Definitely bearable. I felt there were more people this year than last year. Again not as bad as I would guess summer is. Just have to arrive at the parking a bit early to get a spot, if not it makes for a longer walk.

Was cleaning up the backyard after a surf n turf bbq tonight. Draining the main vein, looked up and saw this… luckily I was able do two things at a time. Lmao. Yeah I might’ve had a fair amount of whiskey…
