I watch this youtube channel called “Smarter Every Day” and he’s starting a new series on nuclear power that you might be interested in.

Nuclear power is what we should be doing.
Long ago I visited a breeder reactor in Hanford, Washington which used liquid sodium for cooling. They had a really interesting visitor center (open to the public) there. Later I visited Sandia Nation Laboratory near Albuquerque, and found that they also have an interesting museum/center (but entry was similar to a military base). I see that the atomic museum still exists (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Museum_of_Nuclear_Science_&_History).
California is dead set on shutting down working reactors and trying to replace them with solar panels.
Meanwhile the first new reactor to come on line since the '50s is in Georgia, but delays (mostly political) caused its construction to take perhaps 20 years.

My science teacher in High School (1993) said one day we could all have a small nuclear reactor in our backyard to power are homes.. and they would produce virtually no waste.. He was a funny dude… and maybe a little crazy..

Your teacher may not be that crazy. Deep Fission is a company trying to get regulatory approval. They've engineered a reactor small enough to be installed at the bottom of a 30inch hole, a mile deep into the earth, with the capacity to supply electricity to thousands of homes.

Really informative video Mike, thanks for posting! Nuke is definitely the future and most of the obstacles are political not technological.
