I grew up in Colorado, Indiana and Florida. I graduated from Sarasota High School in FL. I moved back to Indiana where I got married and then joined the US Air Force. From there I went through training in Texas and Florida on the way to my first assignment in South Korea as an F-16 Crew Chief. After a year there, I took an assignment in Idaho where I purchased my first Jeep - a 1986 Cherokee with the dubious 2.8 V6. My maintenance skills were definately tested with that choice in Jeeps. Regardless, I had been bitten by the bug. My other friends had wranglers, which I began to appreciate those few years in Idaho. I switched careers and found myself in Oklahoma City where I jumped at the chance to buy a friend's 1984 CJ7. I took this around all over and wherever I could. Within a couple years of living in OKC, I purchased a 1998 Cherokee for my spouse and a 1997 Wrangler for myself. My wife had some issues so we wanted to start fresh and I took an assignment to Mississippi. It was here we parted ways and I picked up a second CJ7, a 1985. This was where I picked up the Jeepnut2002 email which I use on pretty much every site I frequent. I ended up selling the two CJ7s over the next 7 years after arriving in MS. I built the TJ up into a very capable rig. Sadly, in 2006, July 31st I had a mishap going to PT at 06:30AM and less than a mile from my home. I found two shoulders of the local road which had a bad disagreement with my 36" Super Swamper IROK radials. Well, this ended with me flipping the TJ seven times down the middle of the road. She was totaled, but, still not in too bad of shape thanks to the ARB Bullbar on the front. At this point I was left in a situation which had kept me from getting back into my favorite hobby for several years. I did purchase a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2010. I did not modify it due to a low budget at the time. I retired from the US Air Force in 2012 and moved to Ft Walton Beach FL. As a civilian in the IT field, I have found I am more able to again sustain my hobby. So I started looking and planning for my next rig. This past December 2013 I was able to find and purchase (finally!!) a 2010 JKUR. I love this rig, except of cource, for the 3.8L V6. I have plans to change it for a 3.9L Cummins 4BT diesel. My wishlists are very long for this buildup of this latest companion. I will list them sometime.
Just after purchasing the JKUR, I took her on a road trip to see family at Christmas time in Colorado. I am happy to say she has seen 14,100 feet in altitude and driven in 2 foot of snow on the Pike National Forest trails. I can't wait to modify her with suspension, bumpers, winch, tires and gearing to see what she will really be capable of!!
